My Mary’s Meals fundraising effort began in Nov. 2010. My initial goal, which I met on December 31, 2010, was to raise $11000 to build a kitchen to feed hungry school children. The kitchen was built at the Mpondasi School, in Malawi. Since 2010 I've raised a total of $150,000 for Mary's Meals

Mpondasi Kitchen Pictures
Here are some pictures from the completed Mpondasi school kitchen.
The school
is located in the southern district of Mangochi.
Mpondasi
Primary School is run by the Anglican Church and currently has 3127 children
enrolled, out of which there are 1698 girls and 1429 boys. Mary’s Meals started
feeding here in December 2010.
The school
has access to a borehole, which the school reports is not always functioning
properly. The children have a sports field at the school grounds where they can
play with their friends! There are five toilets at the school, two for boys and
three for girls.
Mary’s
Meals started feeding at Mpondasi Primary School on 1 December 2010 (ongoing
feeding costs are currently covered by a grant giving body).
Initially the children were fed
from a temporary shelter, but with the fantastic support and generosity from many people in the
Wellman/Kalona Community, Mary’s Meals has now built a permanent
kitchen shelter at the school!
